New Year ambitions drive Tredegar on

An exciting 2018 beckons as MD Ian Porthouse aims to build on success

European tours, high profile concerts and contest appearances, CD recordings and exciting Heritage Project developments have already been put in place by Tredegar Band for what promises to be a memorable 2018.

Early start

And after a short festive break at the end of a December that featured two concert performances and a busy schedule of Christmas carol playing in aid of Velindre Cancer Care, the music making certainly starts early as the band joins forces with the Greater Gwent Youth Band for a concert performance in Ebbw Vale on Saturday 6th January in aid of the Brass for Africa Charity.

“We’ve been planning for 2018 and beyond for some time now,” MD Ian Porthouse said. “2017 was a year when we returned to our best and now we aim to build on that once more, on and off the contest stage.”

Exciting projects

He added: “There are exciting projects in place throughout the year that will keep the band focused, proactive and reaching out to new audiences, and with a settled team of players and a management team that has drive and expertise, I’m sure we can exceed our ambitions for the year.”
